Germania appoints new Chief Operating Officer

Clauspeter Schwarz is to become Germania Fluggesellschaft mbH’s new Chief Operating Officer (COO). From July 1st 2017, Schwarz will join the management team of the airline with the green and white livery, which has been led to date by Karsten Balke, Chief Executive Officer and Thomas Wazinski, Chief Technical Officer. Following the appointment by the board of management, the qualified economist will be in charge of operations. He will also take over as the successor to Sieghard Jähn, who retires as Accountable Manager. Jähn will continue to act as a consultant to the company.

“We are delighted that this appointment will ensure a smooth transition for the airline,” says Karsten Balke, Germania’s CEO. “We would like to express our real gratitude to Siggi Jähn for the very good cooperation, his special commitment and the decades worth of achievement experienced by the airline.”

Since October 2014, Clauspeter Schwarz has been working for Germania Fluggesellschaft in the capacity of Director of Operations, Director of Emergencies and Project Manager for strategic projects. Before that, he had worked for the Lufthansa Group, responsible for many major initiatives and for managing leadership tasks at home and abroad. Before Clauspeter joined Germania, he was Chief Operating Officer for an avionics and aviation service provider in Singapore.

Karsten Balke and Thomas Wazinski are looking forward to developing the working relationship. The management expansion will support Germania during the current fleet expansion and throughout the forthcoming transition, which will result from the delivery from 2020 of 25 pre-ordered A320neo aircraft.
