GERMAN AIRLINES CONSIDER LEGAL ACTION ON ABANDONED STRIKE

German airlines are considering legal action to recoup the damage caused by the air traffic controllers’ union calling for a six-week strike to start yesterday but then calling it off on Wednesday after a court granted an injunction. Although flight schedules for the airlines were not disrupted, airlines claim the strike announcement causes uncertainty among passengers and may have affected bookings.

Despite the court action, the air traffic controllers are still talking about a possible strike as early as next week but they will need to give at least 24 hours notice of any industrial action. The DFS air traffic authority has called for the union to go back to the negotiating table next week.
