Singapore Airlines and Garuda Indonesia expand partnership further

Singapore Airlines and Garuda Indonesia are set to boost flight frequencies between Jakarta and Singapore during the fourth quarter of the year.

Singapore Airlines will operate eight daily services from November 22, 2024, up from six currently, with Garuda Indonesia expanding its daily flights from four to six starting December 1, 2024.

The airlines will also expand their codeshare agreement to include additional routes. Currently, they codeshare on flights between Singapore and four Indonesian cities including Denpasar, Jakarta, Medan, and Surabaya, as well as routes connecting Singapore with London (Heathrow) and Mumbai. By December 1, 2024, the partnership will cover 390 weekly codeshare flights, including 362 between Singapore and Indonesia.

“Singapore has been an important market and destination for Garuda Indonesia especially considering the significant traffic growth between Indonesia and Singapore over the years,” said Irfan Setiaputra, president and chief executive officer at Garuda Indonesia. “Moreover, this partnership is also a part of our longstanding initiative to support national tourism post-pandemic by providing access to many exotic destinations in Indonesia.”

In the first quarter of 2025, the two airlines will also deepen their frequent flyer programme partnership by allowing GarudaMiles and KrisFlyer members to earn and redeem miles on codeshare routes. Following Singapore’s regulatory approval of their commercial joint venture in July 2024, Garuda Indonesia and SIA will introduce joint fare products in the first quarter of 2025.

Goh Choon Phong, chief executive officer, Singapore Airlines, further added: “We appreciate the authorities’ approval to increase services between Singapore and Jakarta. Our strategic partnership with Garuda Indonesia will provide additional seamless flight options between these key hubs and beyond, while bringing greater value and enhancing service offerings for our customers.”

Future initiatives may include operating joint revenue-sharing flights between the two countries, coordinating flight schedules to improve connectivity, and exploring joint sales and marketing activities.
