Frontier Group has elected James Dempsey as president and CEO, the airline group said today (January 8). The appointment was effective as of yesterday.
“Jimmy has demonstrated over his more than a decade at Frontier that he's the right leader to drive our airline forward,” said Frontier chair of the board Bill Franke. “His expertise will help us capitalize on the opportunities we see ahead, preserve our industry-leading cost advantage and guide Frontier into the future.”
"I look forward to continuing to work alongside Team Frontier and the Board in our next chapter to execute and deliver long-term shareholder value," said Dempsey.
The announcement follows its previous CEO Barry Biffle stepping down from his position last month. Dempsey, the group's president at the time, had immediately stepped in as interim CEO.
At the time, Frontier said Biffle would remain in an advisory position until the end of 2025.
“The board of directors is deeply appreciative of Barry's leadership and dedicated service to Frontier over the past 11 years,” Franke said last month.
Both last month's and today's announcements from Frontier did not include a statement from Biffle.
Last month, the airline had confirmed it expects its fourth-quarter 2025 results to be in line with guidance issued in November 2025.
The company guided capacity growth for the fourth quarter to be “roughly flat”, while adjusted diluted earnings per share are expected to be $0.04 to $0.20.
