Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines resume services to northern Iraq

Lufthansa and subsidiary Austrian Airlines have announced a resumption of flights to Arbil in northern Iraq, following a suspension of services last month due to security concerns.

In a statement, Lufthansa said: "According to the most recent assessments, the security situation allows for safe flight operations to Arbil.”

Lufthansa also stated it would continue to route transiting aircraft around Iraqi airspace on services to the Middle East or Asia.

Lufthansa flies from Frankfurt to Arbil twice per week, while Austrian operates a daily flight from Vienna.
