Tussle over EADS-BAE merger continues
8th October 2012
Chengdu-based Sichuan's A320neo fleet plan was revealed by the airline signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Pratt to purchase the PW1100G engines to power the aircraft. According to P&W, Sichuan's A320neo fleet will consist of 15 owned and nine leased aircraft with deliveries starting in 2017. A Sichuan order for A320neos has never been announced, but China Southern Airlines, which owns nearly 40% of Sichuan, has ordered 50 A320neos and also agreed to lease 24 A320neos from AerCap Holdings. The engine selection marks the first time a Chinese airline has chosen the GTF to power purchased A320neos.
