Finnair said it will have to cancel around 70 flights, affecting around 6,500 passengers, due to industrial action taking place on March 27.
Finnish Aviation Union IAU's three trade unions and Finnish Transport Workers' Union announced industrial action, impacting Helsinki Airport's operations, such as customer service, baggage handling, and other ground services, disrupting Finnair's flight operations.
“The effects of this industrial action on our customers are unreasonable… we will do our very best to offer a suitable new routing to everyone,” said Finanir chief operating officer Jaakko Schildt.
In addition, the airline renewed its auxiliary power units (APU) services contract with EPCOR for its A330 fleet, extending the contract by five years.
“The renewal of this contract is a testament to the confidence Finnair has in our capabilities and the quality of our services,” said EPCORB commercial director Rob van de Graaf.
Finnair director technical procurement Mervi Moldakainen added: “The reliability of our aircraft are paramount and EPCOR's expertise ensures that our fleet remains in top condition. This partnership is crucial in helping us maintain our high standards of safety and operational efficiency.”
