Finnair carries over 900,000 passengers in December 2024

Finnair carried 927,000 passengers in December 2024, which was 5.6% more than in the same period a year prior. 

Overall capacity decreased by 2.2% due to a pilot strike that resulted in around 300 flights cancelled. Including wet lease outs, capacity decreased by 1.7%. Finnair's traffic, measured in revenue passenger kilometre (RPK) increased by 6.7% in the month. Passenger load factor increased by 6.5 percentage points to 77.4%. 

European traffic capacity was up 7.9% with a majority of the additional narrowbody capacity were allocated to routes in Northern Europe after the wet lease outs to British Airways ended in March 2024. Capacity in its domestic operations was down 1.9% compared to December 2023. Additionally, Asian, North Atlantic, and Middle Eastern capacity were down 9.7%, 9.9%, and 0.5%, respectively. 

Total cargo tonnes declined by 11.8% compared to December 2023. Revenue cargo tonne kilometres decreased by 13.5%.
