Finnair has announced that it carried just over 1 million passengers in September 2025. This was relatively flat compared to the same month last year, marking a 0.3% decline.
Additionally, the airline's capacity was a negative 0.5% during the month, while its load factor increased 1.1 percentage points to 77.3%. Revenue passenger kilometres (RPKs) improved 0.9%.
The airline's Asia traffic saw the most substantial growth, with passenger numbers climbing 13.1% to 130,200 during September.
Capacity into the region was up 9.4% and RPKs were up 9.4%. This was driven by added frequencies to Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya in Japan. Load factor was up 2.8 percentage points to 82.3%.
However, this growth was offset by declining traffic in the North Atlantic region, due to reduced Dallas frequencies, and in the Middle East, due to the end of Finnair's cooperation with Qatar Airways.
The partnership ended in January 2025 after launching in 2022. Codeshare flights between the respective airlines continued. Qatar used two of Finnair's A330s as part of the previous partnership. The European airline reintroduced the two aircraft into its own fleet.
Finnair's core European market remained stable in comparison to September last year.
