Taiwan’s Eva Air announced its decision to buy five Boeing 787 Dreamliners worth $1.78 bn at list price, Reuters report.

Eva Air has a fleet of 10 Boeing 787, with four 787-9s and six 787-20s offering a seat capacity of 7,030 seats.

This order comes on the backdrop of strong financial results published by the airline for February 2023. Just recently the airline posted $420 million in consolidated sales in February 2023 reporting an increase of 48.3% over same time last year. The airline reported revenue from passenger flight of $263 million, up by 1120% year-on-year.

EVA Air posted a slight increase in cargo revenue, reaching an estimated $106.5 million.

Meanwhile Eva Air is expecting delivery of another 11 Dreamliners too. The airline received its very first widebody 787 in September 2018, as a part of lease agreement.

According to Cirium data, B787 accounted for approximately a quarter of EVA's widebody flights from Taipei last week. It was deployed mostly to Hong Kong, Seoul, Bangkok, and Tokyo. However, it was also heavily active on flights to Seattle, Vienna, Munich, and Milan.
