Taiwan’s EVA Air has exercised options to purchase six A350-1000 aircraft and three A321neos, in a deal that totals $3.1bn.
The airline said within a stock exchange filing on March 12, 2025, that the purpose of this purchase relates to the “operating needs of the company”, noting that each A350 aircraft is priced at no more than $436 million, while each A321neo aircraft will not exceed $150 million.
EVA Air confirmed that Airbus will be the counterparty for the transaction.
This new purchase builds on the airlines original order of 18 A350-1000s and 15 A321neos that was confirmed in January 2024. EVA Air said at the time of this original purchase that the A350-1000 aircraft will replace previous-generation jets in the airlines’ long-haul sector.
“For long-range operations the A350-1000 sets new standards in its class and will allow us to offer our passengers the best possible in-flight experience,” said Clay Sun, president of EVA Air.
The airline also has an outstanding order with Boeing for multiple 787 aircraft.
EVA Air did not disclose when it expects these latest Airbus planes to be delivered.
