European Cargo to open a new base at Cardiff Airport

European Cargo is to open a new UK base at Cardiff Airport, Wales.

The cargo operator will commence flights from the Welsh Capital's airport from October 16, 2024, with a direct service between Cardiff and China.

“We’re delighted to announce this exciting development at Cardiff Airport," said Jason Holt, CEO of European Cargo. "We see Wales as a fantastic place to invest in. Cardiff Airport has many advantages, including 24-hour operational facilities and easy road access to the motorway network. We look forward to working with the Airport team.”

Cardiff will become European Cargo's second UK base, joining Bournemouth Airport where operations commenced in 2020.

Spencer Birns, CEO of Cardiff Wales Airport, said: “This is a fantastic and exciting opportunity for the Airport and European Cargo. There is huge demand for air freighters in the marketplace and this investment in Wales is primarily down to the excellent facilities and teams we have at the Airport."

European Cargo will operate three weekly flights, before increasing to four-times weekly in the future.

All flights will be operated on A340-600 aircraft.
