Ethiopian Airlines records 8% growth in annual revenue

Ethiopian Airlines posted annual revenue of $7.6bn for the Ethiopian fiscal year ending July 7, 2025, marking an 8% increase on the year prior, according to local media reports.

Group chief executive officer Mesfin Tasew attributed the growth to strategic expansion in both passenger and cargo operations, despite pressures from geopolitical tensions, global economic slowdown, and new US aviation regulations.

During the fiscal year, the airline carried 19.1 million passengers, including 15.2 million international and 3.9 million domestic travellers. It also transported 785,000 tonnes of cargo.

Local outlets reported that the airline's performance further solidifies its status as Africa’s largest and most profitable carrier, maintaining its dominance despite a challenging external environment.
