An Emirates A380 was forced to make an emergency landing earlier today after smoke was detected in the cockpit. The flight, EK413, was en route to Dubai from Auckland with stop in Sydney, when the pilot sent a May Day message and activated all emergency functions about 600 kilometers east of Colombo, Sri Lanka. The aircraft landed safely 39 minutes after the first distress call.
