Embraer has opened a new office in Delhi through its fully owned Indian subsidiary, as the aircraft manufacturer looks to expand its operations in the world’s fastest growing aviation market.
The new office will serve as a hub for all of Embraer’s operations in India, including commercial aviation; business aviation; defence; services and support; and urban air mobility.
Embraer has had a presence in India since 2005, when the first E-Jets began flying regional routes.
Nearly 50 Embraer aircraft across 11 different types operate in India, serving the Indian Air Force, government agencies, business jet operators, and an all-Embraer commercial airline: Star Air, which operates E175 and ERJ 145 aircraft.
In commercial aviation, Embraer said its E-Jets continue to unlock new opportunities for regional connectivity in tier-two and tier-two cities, supporting India’s ambition to become a global aviation hub.
Embraer is also expanding in India through Eve Air Mobility, the urban air mobility company which it launched in 2017 through Embraer-X, and in which it currently holds an 85% stake.
Eve is currently working with JetSetGo, India's largest operator of private jets and helicopters, to explore the deployment of Vector, Eve's urban air traffic management software, which aims to reduce congestion and support sustainable travel.
Separately, Eve has partnered with Hunch Mobility to study the launch of electric commuter flights in Bangalore, with the aim to establish the city as the region’s first hub for urban air mobility using electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.
