Irish budget carrier Ryanair is to fly to a “record” 69 destinations from Scotland’s Edinburgh Airport in summer 2023.
Six new destinations — Belfast, Bournemouth, Cornwall, London Stansted, Rhodes and Venice — were announced, along with “increased frequencies” on “over 30” routes.
Ryanair is to add one aircraft to the 10 it has stationed at the airport, a $100m investment it said would mean “over 30 new highly paid jobs for pilots and cabin crew”.
The carrier used the occasion to again ask the UK government to ditch air passenger duty (APD) for “all travel”, after its recent announcement of a 50% cut to the levy for domestic travel from April 2023
Such a move, the carrier said, “would not only promote tourism, but support much needed connectivity to the UK, an island-based economy”.
