Edinburgh Airport gains global carbon accreditation
Edinburgh Airport has become the first airport in Scotland to achieve a level four in the global carbon accreditation scheme. Work done at Edinburgh Airport to achieve this accreditation included the publication of a net zero strategy – setting out the airports future plan for sustainable growth – through absolute reduction of its direct emissions. It also meant that the airport had to work with its airlines and airport partners to understand science-based targets, in order to achieve a reduction in emissions. “This accreditation marks another major milestone as we progress towards Net Zero emissions and build upon the important work already done through our greater good sustainability strategy,” said Edinburgh Airport head of sustainability Jessica Briggs. She continued: “We’d like to recognise the role our airlines, campus partners, and suppliers have played in this and thank them for engaging with us as we work to better understand emissions created across our campus and beyond – and look at how we can further reduce these.”
