EasyJet increases profits forecast for 2010

With passenger numbers higher than expected for September, EasyJet has raised its profits forecast to more than £150 million. The airline carrier carried 4.8 million people last month, an 8% increase on last year’s numbers, which boosted revenue per seat by 6%. EasyJet’s share price jumped 12% on the news that the low cost carrier is now predicting an annual profit of between £100 million and £150 million. It has also lowered its loss estimate for the May ash cloud to £65 million from $60 million.

easyJet chief executive, Carolyn McCall, stated that the airline has given a “robust” performance as “given the tough trading environment".
