EASTER STRIKE EXPECTED BY BA CABIN CREW

Unite, the union representing British Airways cabin crew, has announced its members have voted to strike as early as next week. With an 83% majority, some 5,811 crew members voted in favour of strike action.

The union must notify BA seven days prior to any strike being staged. No dates have yet been set as the union remains “in discussions” with the UK carrier. BA has consistently said that any strike action will not affect its operations too severely and it has announced it will operate a normal flight schedule at London Gatwick and London City airports, while it aims to run all long haul flights and the majority of short haul flights from London Heathrow. Customers will be alerted by email, text or phone if their flight is affected.
