Japan Airlines has launched a nonstop service between Doha's Hamad International Airport and Tokyo Haneda International Airport. It is the first route from a Japanese airline to operate such a service to and from the Middle East and is part of a codeshare service with oneworld alliance member Qatar Airways. The flight route will operate daily from March 31, 2024, to October 26, 2024, on its 787-9 aircraft.
""The demand for business and leisure travel from Doha to Asia continues to grow, and we are excited to offer JAL’s renowned five-star service and unique approach to hospitality to even more travellers,"" said Japan Airlines managing executive officer, route marketing senior vice president Ross Leggett.
In addition, the airline has launched its new business program, the JAL Corporate SAF program. The program provides corporate customers a certification of the calculated environmental value of reduced CO2 emissions through the use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
The certificates will be issued and sold to corporate customers who require the environmental value. Participation in this program enables corporate customers the visualization and reduction of CO? emissions based on air travel usage for cargo transportation and employee business trips. Additionally, these certificates can be used for disclosing and calculating CO? emission reduction information.
The airline has also demonstrated its newly developed drone port to be used for safe pharmaceutical delivery and management in Tokyo. Following Japan’s first pharmaceutical delivery demonstration using level four drone flights (unmanned flights beyond visual line of sight in populated areas) in December 2023, this demonstration focused on using drone ports to verify the safe transfer of pharmaceuticals and to reduce the manpower required for delivery management.
