India’s domestic air traffic in January 2023 registered a 95.72 growth as compared to the same time last year, according to the latest figures released by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Indian domestic carriers carried 12.5 million passengers in January 2023 as compared to 6.4 million in January 2022 when India was under the Omicron wave.
IndiGo continued its top slot with a market share of 54.6% with Air India finishing second, registering 9.2% of the passenger traffic share. Vistara ranked third with 8.8% market share.
The passenger load factor of all airlines in India saw a slight dip in January following a busy travel period in December 2022.
IndiGo again topped the charts for on-time performance (OTP) with 84.6%, the second most punctual airline was Akasa Air with an OTP of 76.9%.
