Dense fog in the Indian capital Delhi caused delays at the city’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on January 10, 2025. Fog reduced visibility to zero in some areas of the city, disrupting flights at Delhi's main airport.
Authorities outlined in a post on social media site X, that due to dense fog there had been an impact on flight departures, further noting that flights that are not CAT III compliant may be affected.
CAT III is an aircraft navigation system that helps enable planes to land during inclement weather conditions, when visibility is low.
Indian low-cost carrier IndiGo also announced that a number of its flights were affected by fog across India’s northern belt, resulting in departures and arrivals being behind schedule.
The airport noted that it was working to minimise inconvenience to passengers.
