The engine of a Delta Air Lines flight caught fire as it was pushing back from a gate at Orlando International Airport on April 21, 2025, causing 294 passengers and crew to evacuate.
A spokesperson for Delta told Airline Economics that the crew of flight 1213 followed procedures to evacuate the passenger cabin when flames in the tailpipe of one of the aircraft's two engines were observed.
The A330 was heading to Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson airport when the incident occurred at around 11:15am.
"We appreciate our customers' cooperation and apologise for the experience,” the spokesperson added.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said it will investigate the incident.
