Delta Air Lines to add 35,000 extra seats to Caribbean and North American destinations in winter

Delta Air Lines is all set to add 35,000 extra seats to its Caribbean and Latin America schedule with a 30% capacity increase as a part of its winter schedule from January 13, 2024. This represents up to 1,000 weekly flights between the United States and the region.

The airline will increase its frequency to nine destinations including Guatemala and Liberia, Costa Rica, Central America, and San Juan, Puerto Rico. The added frequencies will be from five major Delta hubs, including Atlanta, Boston, Delta, Minneapolis, and New York JFK.

Flights connecting Atlanta to Liberia, St Thomas, and San Jose will be operated thrice daily, St Maarten, Guatemala will see twice daily while Atlanta-San Juan flights will be operated six times a day. The airline will operate New York JFK – Cancum flights thrice daily while flights from Detroit to Punta Cana, Montego Bay, and San Juan will be operated twice daily. The airline will ramp its capacity from Minneapolis to Punta Cana, Montego Bay, and San Jose to twice a day

Extra fifth weekly service to Liberia, will be operated four times weekly on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sundays while Boston-San Juan flights will see twice daily connectivity.

Delta plans to operate these additional routes on its Boeing 757-200, 737-800 and 737-900 aircraft.

Delta will also take off with a seasonal service between Seattle to Cancun from December 22, operating once a week. The move will build on its already expanded winter schedule, including its new route to Curaçao from Atlanta and its return to Cartagena, Colombia.

Delta will offer direct connectivity to 44 destinations across Latin America and Caribbean, this winter.

Apart from the above, Delta is also awaiting US Department of Transportation (US-DOT) approval for codeshare agreement with airBaltic.
