Global passenger demand during January 2025 increased by 10%, when compared to the same period of the year prior, according to data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
IATA said that this rise in demand aligns with the findings from its latest passenger survey in November 2024, where 94% of travellers indicated they plan to travel as much or more in 2025 compared to the previous year.
International passenger demand during the month rose by12.4% compared to 2024. Capacity was up 8.7% from January the year prior with an average load factor of 82.6% Domestic demand also rose, up by 6.1% compared to January 2024. Capacity was up by 4.5%. The average domestic load factor was 81.2%, an all-time high for the month.
Asia-Pacific airlines achieved the highest increase in overall demand during January, with figures up 21.8% on 2024.
