Two aircraft produced by the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) have commenced commercial operations in Vietnam, the manufacturer confirmed in a statement.
The two C909 aircraft, which have been wet-leased by Chengdu Airlines to Vietjet, started operations in Vietnam on April 19th, 2025. This marks the beginning of commercial operations of Chinese built commercial aircraft in Vietnam.
Vietjet's wet-lease of the two C909 aircraft will aim to further enhance its fleet capacity, while expanding its regional route network.
So far, three overseas airlines - TransNusa, Lao Airlines and Vietjet - have cumulatively used C909 aircraft to open 15 routes in Southeast Asia, carrying more than 250,000 passengers.
In March, COMAC delivered its first C909 aircraft to Lao Airlines, making this aircraft the first Chinese made aircraft to operate in Laos.
