Chinese aircraft manufacturer COMAC has signed a sale and purchase agreement with Hainan Airlines subsidiary Urumqi Airlines for 40 C909 aircraft. The deal was made during the Zhuhai air show.
The C909s were formerly known as the ARJ21-700 before COMAC rebranded the regional aircraft during the air show. The rebranding aligns it to COMAC's other aircraft such as the C919 and C929.
According to a stock filing from Hainan Airlines, the basic price of C909 is $38 million and the total transaction will not exceed $1.53bn.
The filing added that Urumqi Airlines will finance the aircraft through its own funds, commercial bank loans as well as other financing methods. The aircraft are scheduled to be delivered as soon as next year through to 2032.
