The Civil Aviation Authority of Moldova has suspended Air Moldova's air operator's certificate (AOC) until October 31, 2023. The suspension is due to the lack of at least one aircraft with a valid airworthiness certificate.
According to sources, the only aircraft managed by the Air Moldova air operator is in maintenance and the works planned for last April have not been finished so far.
The airworthiness certificate for Air Moldova's aircraft expired on August 21, 2023 and without a valid airworthiness certificate, an airline cannot hold an Air Operator Certificate.
Thus, at a request by the operator, the Civil Aviation Authority suspended AOC of Air Moldova. The regulator has directed passengers to contact the carrier to claim any reimbursement.
The airline started its restructuring programme earlier this year, and has been inoperative for several months.
