Chinese airlines on a hiring spree for cabin crew posts

Airlines in China are on a cabin crew hiring spree and have received thousands of job applications, Reuters reports. China usually requires its flight attendants to have a graduate degree and pass a government-administered English language test. In spite of higher set to qualifications, Chinese airlines face no shortage of applications for the positions.

China Southern plans to induct 3,000 cabin crew this year and has already received more than seven times as many applicants by the end of December.

China was one of the last nations in the world to lift the pandemic restrictions, with the Chinese aviation industry hitting rock-bottom. Three of China’s biggest airlines Air China, China Eastern, and China Southern made a combined loss of $15.8 billion in 2022, nearly three times the $5.9 billion they lost in 2021.

But things have slowing started falling back in place. The Chinese aviation industry is witnessing a strong rebound in both domestic and international air travel. The country’s domestic capacity breached pre-COVID capacity last month.

Exactly for this reason, the airlines have started building its workforce to meet the demand that will continue to rise with time, considering the fact that fresh recruits will need atleast a year of training before joining active service.
