China Southern expands Collins on-site agreement by five years

China Southern Airlines (CSN) recently expanded its 10-year on-site support agreement with Collins Aerospace to 15 years. The new agreement has added support for Collins’ Integrated Drive Generator (IDG) and other electric generators for multiple aircraft platforms, including the B787, A320neo, and ARJ21. Collins’ IDG provides primary electric power for the aircraft’s electrical system by converting variable engine input speed to a constant output speed, thus enabling the generator portion of the IDG to produce alternating current at a constant frequency.

Mike Yue, regional director, customer & account management, said: “This agreement will provide CSN with continued support for its fleet, and guarantee stocks and parts availability. This will help reduce turnaround time and improve operational efficiency. We are looking forward to strengthening our support and relationship with CSN to meet their future requirements.”

With this contract, Collins will extend its onsite inventory management services to most of China Southern’s IDG and generator capabilities with services like predictive parts forecasting, managing the availability and distribution of parts, and providing 24/7 technical support.
