China Eastern Airlines has operated the first commercial flight of the COMAC C919 outside of Mainland China.
The flight operated by the Shanghai based airline arrived in Hong Kong from Shanghai on January 1, 2025.
Mable Chan, Hong Kong’s secretary for transport and logistics noted Mainland China’s civil aviation production will benefit both local residents and international visitors. "We hope that through this inaugural flight, we can innovate and establish ourselves in civil aviation, so as to demonstrate our position under 'one country, two systems',” said Chen.
China Eastern’s first C919 was delivered in December 2022, with the airline commencing operations with the aircraft type in May 2023.
