China Eastern Airlines sign strategic agreement with Shanghai Municipal Council to boost aviation

China Eastern Airlines has signed a strategic cooperation framework with the Shanghai Municipal People's Government to deepen cooperation and promote development in the city. In a recent meeting the airline and the city administrative agreed to work together to build Shanghai into a world-class aviation hub.

The agreement read: “As a state-owned backbone air transport group headquartered in Shanghai, it (China Eastern) will continue to deepen cooperation with Shanghai in various fields, strive to build a global competitive air transport supercarrier. The transportation system provides strong support for Shanghai to build a socialist modern international metropolis with world influence."

The airline currently has about 597 active aircraft in its fleet and is the biggest operator at Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport base.
