Cathay Pacific carried 2.1 million passengers in February 2025, up 14.3% compared to the same period last year, while capacity was up 17%. Passenger load factor averaged 82.9%, up 0.6 percentage points.
Revenue passenger kilometres (RPKs) were up 17.8% in the month.
“Following the Lunar New Year holiday, leisure travel demand softened while business travel demand picked up, driven by various exhibitions and trade events held in late February and early March,” said Cathay Group chief customer and commercial officer Lavinia Lau.
The airline expects reduced leisure travel demand from its home market up to the end of March.
The company's low cost subsidiary HK Express carried 585,941 passengers in the month, up 32%, while capacity was up 38% in the month. Passenger load factor was down 5.9 percentage points, however, to 79.9%. RPKs were up 28.6% for the month.
Cargo capacity was up 3.5%, while revenue freight tonne kilometres was up 1% in the month. Cargo load factor was down 1.4 percentage points to 57.8%.
