Chaos at Delhi, Bengaluru airports, passengers angry

The Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi has been witnessing utter chaos over the past week with the holiday rush and passenger footfalls heavier than usual. The government swung into action ordering decongestion measures and asking airlines to deploy adequate manpower at all check-in and baggage drop counters to ensure the smooth flow of passengers, with the result that airport operations are slowly resuming normalcy.

Operators like IndiGo and Air India have issued advisories to passengers traveling from Delhi Airport to reach at least 3 to 3.5 hours before the flight departure timings to avoid inconvenience and to carry a single piece of baggage weighing up to 7kgs.

Just as the chaos at Delhi airport is finally calming down after days of uncertainty, Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport is now showing warning signs of similar chaos. With footfall exceeding pre-pandemic levels, which was more than 100,000 daily passengers, massive crowds and delayed check-ins are being reported from Bengaluru airport.

Huge crowds were witnessed especially at immigration caused majorly due to a shortage of staff. Some flights reported delays and clashed timings leading to passenger woes coupled with a shortage of security personnel adding to wait time at check-ins.

Meanwhile angry passengers are taking to social media to post pictures showing huge crowds and long queues at the airport.
