Cathay Pacific passengers increased 37% in January

Cathay Pacific carried 2.3 million passengers during January 2025, representing an increase of 37% in comparison to the same period of the year prior.

Capacity increased by 30.9%, while load factor increased by 3.6 percentage points to 86.4%.

The airline cited a resurgence in business travel demand leading to a solid load factor in the premium cabins. Passenger travel demand from Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland also increased significantly during the Lunar New Year holiday.

Cathay’s low-cost subsidiary HK Express carried a record high of over 667,000 passengers in January 2025, an increase of 46.1% compared with January 2024, while capacity increased by 39.7%.

Cathay Cargo carried 13.7% more cargo in January 2025 compared with January 2024, with cargo capacity up 14.7%. The company's cargo load factor decreased by 2.5 percentage points year on year to 56.1%.
