Brussels Airlines records a 12% increase in passenger traffic to Scandinavia during summer period

Brussels Airlines has recorded a 12% increase in passenger traffic to Scandinavia this summer, as more travellers opt for destinations with cooler climates amid widespread heatwaves across Europe.

The Belgian carrier noted a shift in travel patterns, with holidaymakers increasingly favouring milder temperatures over traditional warmer destinations. In response, the airline has expanded its network to include new destinations such as Evenes in northern Norway, introduced in partnership with travel agency Nordic.

Existing routes to cities such as Stockholm, Gothenburg, Copenhagen, and Oslo have also seen a surge in bookings.

Northern European cities not traditionally associated with summer holidays - including Edinburgh and Bilbao - are also gaining traction as travellers seek to avoid extreme temperatures without compromising on cultural or leisure experiences.

Brussels Airlines has also added Funchal to its summer network.
