Bruce Aerospace obtains FAA and EASA Certification for Qantas Airways’ A330 LED Cabin Lighting Systems

Bruce Aerospace has successfully added the Airbus A330 to their list of certified platforms for the white/bi-colour LED lighting product line after the system was selected by Australia’s largest airline, Qantas Airways.

The lighting enhancement installation forms part of the airline’s reconfiguration program of its A330 aircraft which are deployed on main East/West trunk routes and long haul services from Australia to key destinations in Asia.

Certification of the system for the A330 means airlines such as Qantas have a drop-in replacement for the OEM-supplied fluorescent cabin lighting fixtures, enhancing the cabin with the environmentally-friendly and cost effective Bruce Aerospace LED fixtures.

Bruce Aerospace had previously certified their full-spectrum Mood Lighting System for the A330 platform.

Three aircraft featuring the new LED system are now in service and form part of a multi-million dollar investment in the aircraft interiors including the installation of the new Business Suite product.

The installation of the “plug & play” LED fixtures was easily accomplished using the existing wiring and controls. With an LED life of over 60,000 hours, Qantas will save costs on labour and materials for lamp and lens replacements.
