British Airways staff at London’s Heathrow and Gatwick airports, represented by workers union Unite, have secured a pay deal worth millions of pounds in additional wages.
Unite said that the three-year deal has been voted on and accepted “overwhelmingly” by cabin crew, engineers, customer relations staff and cargo handlers at both London airports.
The pay deal includes a 4.5% salary increase in the first year, along with a £1,000 ($1,241) reward payment. In the second year, employees will receive a 3% pay increase, plus additional reward payments ranging between 1- 4%. The third year will also see a 3% salary increase, with further reward payments between 1-4%.
In addition to the headline pay, the deal also comes with inflationary safety measures, an inflation matching rise in shift pay and an ongoing commitment from BA to work with Unite and other unions on employment practices and terms and conditions going forward.
