British Airways and Singapore Airlines cancel services to the Middle East

Both British Airways and Singapore Airlines have cancelled services to the Middle East, as tensions in the Gulf region continue to escalate.

Last week airspace over Israel, Iran, Iraq and Jordan was closed after Israeli strikes on targets in Iran forced airlines to reroute, divert and cancel flights. These latest flight cancellations to both Dubai and Doha triggered by the US missile strikes on nuclear targets in Iran on June 22, 2025.

Over the weekend British Airways cancelled flights to Dubai and Doha, after already suspending flights to Bahrain until June 30th.

Data from Flightradar24, shows one British Airways flight, which departed London Heathrow for Dubai at 9:53pm on June 21, diverted over Saudia Arabian airspace and landed in Zurich nine hours after departing from the British capital.

A spokesperson for the airline told Airline Economics that flights to Dubai and Doha are scheduled to “operate as normal" and that its teams continue to keep the situation under review.

On June 23, 2025, British Airways has cancelled half of its scheduled flights to Dubai and Doha from Heathrow. The airline plans to operate evening flights to both cities as of 11:00 GMT.

In a statement, Singapore Airlines said it had cancelled its daily service to Dubai until June 26, 2025, at the earliest. The airline cited a “security assessment” of the geopolitical situation in the Middle East as a reason for these cancellations.

Prior to these US strikes on Iran, airlines including American and United Airlines cancelled flights to either Doha or Dubai.
