Indian aviation authorities share update on Air India crash

Data from Air India Flight 182's black box has been successfully downloaded, India's Ministry of Civil Aviation shared on June 26, 2025. 

 The data from the fatal crash is now being analysed. 

“These efforts aim to reconstruct the sequence of events leading to the accident and identify contributing factors to enhance aviation safety and prevent future occurrences,” said the aviation authority. 

The cockpit voice recorders and flight data recorders were recovered with one being found on a rooftop at the crash site on June 13 and the other found amongst debris three days later. 

The fatal crash occurred after the Air India 787 Dreamliner aircraft, bound for London, crashed shortly after take off from Ahmedabad on June 12, 2025. 241 passengers and crew were killed with only one survivor. The aircraft's impact into a residential area also resulted in the deaths of 29 people on the ground.
