Two airports serving Belgium’s capital city have cancelled all flights departing on March 31, 2025, due to a one-day nationwide worker's strike.
Brussels Airport notified passengers on its website that, in consultation with airlines, it has decided to suspend all departing passenger flights to ensure the safety of both passengers and staff. The airport also said that cancellations for arriving flights are also possible.
In addition to the city’s primary hub, Brussels Charleroi Airport will also cancel all departing and arriving flights in response to the industrial action.
The FGTB/ABVV and CSC/AC unions will orchestrate the strike action with the aim of denouncing a series of measures implemented by the Belgian government.
This is the third round of strike action impacting Belgian aviation so far this year, following similar strikes that took place in both January and February.
This is also the latest round of strike action impacting European airports, after thousands of passenger flights across major German airports were cancelled on March 10, 2025, as trade union Verdi called public sector and ground handling employees to exercise strike action.
