British Airways' (BA) ground services staff at London City Airport threatened to cause ""major disruption"" at the airport over pay disputes.
BA's wholly-owned subsidiary Gatwick Ground Services (GGS), which operates at Gatwick Airport as well as London City Airport, had made a pay offer in July to employees. However, GMB Union - the employees' representative - had rejected the pay offer.
The union claimed that workers at London City are being paid 17% less than their counterparts at Gatwick. It also claimed that the GGS has ""delayed getting back to the negotiating table"" and has led to frustration amongst the 120 ground employees at the airport.
However, speaking to Airline Economics, a spokesperson from BA's GGS said: ""Gatwick Ground Services remains fully committed to talks with the union and working to reach an agreement together.""
Further talks are reportedly planned. As of yet, no ballot notice of industrial action has been issued. Additionally, BA CityFlyer services at the airport continue to operate as scheduled. BA CityFlyer is the regional arm of the airline.
