BA 787 nose collapses on stand

Photos have emerged on social media of a British Airways 787 aircraft that suffered a nose gear collapse on the tarmac at Heathrow Airport. The front landing gear is believed to have collapsed.

British Airways have confirmed that the aircraft was only transporting freight and so luckily had no passengers on board.

A spokesman for BA told UK media: “A freighter aircraft has been damaged while stationary on stand. As a freighter only aircraft there were no passengers on board.

“Safety is always our highest priority and we are investigating the matter.”

The UK government’s air accidents department has sent a team to London Heathrow to begin an investigation into the incident.
