Brazilian airline Azul was the world's on-time carrier in March, with 89.87% of flights arriving at their destination when they wree supposed to, according to UK-based aviation analytics firm Cirium.
Compatriot carriers ANA and Japan Airlines were in a tight race for second, with the former a shade ahead with a 87.25% score.
Azul's fellow Latin American airlines Avianca and LATAM Airlines took fourth and fifth spot, with 85.94% and 85.71% respectively.
Austrian Airlines was named Europe’s most punctual carrier, Cirium said, with LOT second. ITA Airways, Finnair and Iberia made top five, all with records of over 80% for the month. No British carrier made the top 10.
But the number of cancelled flights within Europe rose 65% in March 2023 compared to the previous month, with 14,405 flights binned.
France, Germany and the UK have all seen some airports and airlines hit by strikes during the month.
The sole region to see cancellations fall was North America, according to Cirium's number-crunchers.
