Canadian MRO specialist Avianor has named Mario Lafrance as its new vice president and general manager, effective September 29.

Lafrance joins Avianor from Canadian airline Air Transat, where he served as vice president of technical operations and PRM.

He has more than 35 years’ experience in the aviation industry, and has held key positions in technical operations, quality control management, safety, hangar, and line maintenance.

Lafrance has worked with a wide range of aircraft, including the Airbus A330, A320, A310, and A220, and the Boeing 727, 737, and 757.

Avianor said Lafrance will focus on strengthening the company’s A220 maintenance at its Center of Excellence in Quebec.

He will also drive the advancement of Avianor’s MRO and interior solutions services.

Lafrance will succeed Hugo Brouillard as president, who has announced his retirement following 35 years of service in the aviation industry.

Brouillard will remain with Avianor until December 2025, in order to ensure a smooth transition period, the company said.
