ATSG-led partnership launches ADS-B In retrofit programme for Boeing 757 and 767 operators

A partnership led by Air Transport Services Group (ATSG) is developing an ADS-B In retrofit solution for Boeing 757 and Boeing 767 aircraft, targeting entry into service in early 2027.

The partnership programme includes ATSG subsidiary Airborne Maintenance & Engineering Services, Innovative Aerosystems and Aviation Communication & Surveillance Systems

The solution combines ACSS’s SafeRoute ADS-B In technology with Innovative Aerosystems’ flat panel display system, enabling enhanced situational awareness through integration with modernised flight decks.

Airborne will lead integration and certification, leveraging its supplemental type certificate (STC) expertise. Development is progressing through aircraft surveys and engineering, with installations planned to align with heavy maintenance checks to minimise downtime.

"Airborne’s technical expertise, combined with ATSG’s broader platform, allows us to deliver programs like this in a way that reduces complexity, minimizes downtime, and creates immediate and long-term value," said ATSG chief commercial strategy officer Todd France.

According to ATSG, the retrofit supports improved safety and efficiency, including enhanced traffic awareness, increased runway throughput, optimised enroute spacing and reduced fuel burn. The FAA has previously validated these benefits across multiple ADS-B In applications.
