ANA POSTS STRONG QUARTERLY PROFITS

All Nippon Airways has reported a net profit of 24.2 billion yen ($296 million) in the third quarter of its fiscal year, compared with a net loss of 9.8 billion yen in the same period a year earlier.

ANA credited a surge in international passenger traffic helped by new routes from Tokyo's Haneda airport.

For the first nine months of the year ANA earned 37.5 billion yen, compared with a net loss of 35.1 billion yen last year.

For the fiscal year through to March, ANA expects to post a profit of just 6 billion yen, as it has been impacted by the delays of the 787 program, which is a launch customer.

Boosted by a 32% rise in international passenger revenue, overall sales in the third quarter grew 14% to 354.9 billion yen from 311.9 billion yen in the same period the year prior. The airline booked an operating profit of 20.8 billion yen in the quarter, compared with an operating loss of 9.5 billion yen a year earlier.
