An American Airlines flight was evacuated at Denver International Airport after one of its engines caught on fire, after it made an emergency landing at the Colorado airport on March 13, 2025.
The 737-800, operating as American Airlines flight 1006 between Colorado Springs and Dallas, made an emergency landing at Denver after the aircraft experienced an “engine-related” issue.
After landing, and while taxiing to a gate, an engine caught fire causing passengers to be evacuated from aircraft via emergency slides, confirmed the Federal Aviation Administration.
An American Airlines spokesperson confirmed to Airline Economics that the aircraft was carrying 172 passengers and six crew members, who were all deplaned and relocated to a terminal building.
Denver International Airport said that 12 people were transported to local hospitals with minor injuries.
The FAA and NTSB will investigate the incident.
