Allegiant Air pilots preparing for vote of no confidence in the airline's management

Allegiant Air pilots, represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 2118, have announced plans to conduct a formal vote of no confidence in the airline’s management and board of directors, citing what they describe as years of mismanagement and poor strategic decisions.

The union said the move reflects growing concern among Allegiant’s flight crew over the carrier’s direction, independent of ongoing contract negotiations.

“Contract or not, Gallagher (CEO) and Anderson’s (President) management team have proven that they don’t have what it takes to lead an airline,” said Captain Kevn Winter. “Failure after failure has eroded trust and put the airline’s future at risk.”

The pilots accuse Allegiant leadership of overseeing a 50% drop in market value in six months, a $500 million loss on its stalled Sunseeker Resort project, and the shutdown of its NASCAR team and other ventures.

Union leaders also criticised executive spending and “tone-deaf” outreach efforts, including the use of private jets for internal meetings.

Teamsters general president Sean O’Brien described the company’s management culture as “toxic” and said it was “fuelled by arrogance.”

The vote is expected in the coming weeks.
