Flight attendants from Alaska Airlines have voted to ratify a new three-year labour contract, which will provide an immediate wage increase of between 18.6% and 28.3% for up to 7,000 flight attendants.
The new agreement will also provide boarding pay, 25 months of retroactive pay and two additional raises over the contract's duration. The union representing the airlines flight attendants, the Association of Flight Attendants – CWA (AFA), said that 95% of those voting supported the new agreement.
“This contract will immediately and significantly improve the lives of Alaska flight attendants,” said Jeffrey Peterson, AFA Alaska MEC president. “This contract also raises the foundation for the new joint Alaska-Hawaiian negotiations following the merger.”
Alaska’s CEO, Ben Minicucci said that he is glad to have flight attendants working under a new contract, stating that he is “grateful” to colleagues at AFA who bargained for the airline's flight attendants.
This marks the eighth labour contract ratified by Alaska Air Group with one of its represented workgroups over the past three years.
